Feeling Encircled by God : The Story Behind the Design for May's Christian Women Subscription Box
Do you ever feel Overlooked? Forgotten? Unimportant?
Alone? Unheard? Without help?
Whether you can relate to one of these or ALL of them, I have really good news for you! Psalm 139 is packed FULL of Hope and it is the focus verse for Lemonade Creative Hearts and our Lemonade Reminders Encouragement Kit for the month of May.
I hope you can take a few moments and read the 24 verses of this chapter. Read them slowly to soak on the words and let them sink into your heart. The words are describing a Good Father and His precious child. These verses are incredible Truths to combat negative thoughts and feelings.
Here’s a breakdown, but I truly hope you will read the entire passage in your Bible:
GOD IS ALL KNOWING.
There is nothing that He cannot do. He is all knowing. There is nothing that is hidden from Him. There is nothing that He does not know. He knows every detail of your story. Verse 13 says, “You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.”
He knew you before you ever took your first breath AND He knows the date you will take your very last breath. Each of your days are so important to Him that He has recorded them in His Book! He knows your every thought, motive, desire, and deed that you’ve ever done AND ever will do. He sees you when you sleep and when you wake up. He keeps constant watch over you.
You are NOT overlooked. You are not forgotten. You are not unheard. You are NOT a mistake! You are KNOWN by Him. You can praise Him because you ARE fearfully AND wonderfully made BY Him!
GOD IS EVER PRESENT.
There is nowhere you could go that He is not already there. He is well aware of your future and your past and your present. His knowledge of us is beyond what our human brain can grasp and comprehend. His power is greater than we could imagine. He is capable of encircling us. There is nowhere we could go from his presence. Verse 9 states, “If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” Even if you wanted to hide from Him, you could not. Verses 11 & 12 say, “The night shines as the day to HIm; the darkness and the light are both alike to You”. God is inescapable. Verse 18 says, “When I am awake, I am still with You.”
You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are being held. You are seen.
Two things happen after the Psalmist spends time reflecting on who God is: Spending time in God’s Holy presence will expose our own UN-holiness… sinfulness. David saw the sin and unholiness of others AND His own sin and unholiness.
So David closes Psalm 139 with a prayer that is still applicable to us today! He asks God to search him. He realizes that he is often blind to his own iniquities and wants God to expose them so he can deal with them and be free!
Verses 23 & 24 state “Search me thoroughly, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
I hope you are encouraged by this beautifully honest Psalm. You are seen, loved and cared for by an All Powerful, All knowing Father!
